–song chorus
Psalm 84 is a great example of the emotion and heart-strong praise that David and the temple writers gave in their creation. It uses expressions such as, “How lovely is your dwelling place …” and “My soul yearns, even faints …” and “better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.”
There are many other Psalms written with this fervor. It is important let our guards down and let go to express to God how we long to be with Him and spend time listening to Him.
Bring your fear and doubts to Him so He can give you peace. If fear and doubt dominate your mind, let Jesus help you find resolution about the situations. As 2Timothy1:7 says:
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and
timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Let this prayer time set you free from fear and doubts that distract so you can plainly hear His voice.
If our guards are up and we give ear to the world’s political priorities more than we value God’s priorities, we will naturally be anxious about getting the things we need and gathering other “stuff”.
When we focus and listen for what God wants us to accomplish, we discover that we have plenty of time and resources to take care of our needs and wants.
Anxiety can lead us down the path of selfish ambition. It’s not that our ambitions are wrong or aren’t important, it’s that we want our ambitions to conform to our usefulness in delivering His justice in this life.
Let the world fade, Lord, speak Your truth, shine a light on our paths… this is a time to trust in Him, tell Him of our anxieties, and listen for His words.
Jesus, come change my life with your presence, the presence of the Holy Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit move your heart to heal every aspect of your life and help to make you whole.
Heavenly Father, how great is Your name. May Your kingdom come to earth. Lord Jesus, give me wisdom. I pray that I keep my life focused on delivering mercy, love, and justice to every person I interact with today.
Help me with my anxieties today. Thank you for the full-time gift of the Holy Spirit to help pray and seek Your guidance.
Thank you for the victory over sin and death so I can live my
life to the full.
What does the fullness of life mean to you?
What does separation from God mean to you?
How has Christ’s victory over sin and death changed you, or will change you?
